Welcome to my blog! I'm newly married (January 21, 2012 to be exact) and wanted a place to blog about my new life. My husband Zach and I live in Lubbock, TX (aka the dust bowl). We moved here in December to start our life together. When we decided to move to Lubbock, I got some pretty crazy looks from my friends. For those non-native Texans, Lubbock is not glamorous. It's flat, dusty, windy, and dry. What it lacks in topography it makes up for in the caliber of people who live here. Lubbock has some of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met. It may not have a Neiman Marcus, but the lifestyle and people more than make up for it (well, pretty much- I still shop at neimanmarcus.com .... sorry Zach- You can take the girl out of the stores, but you can't take the stores out of the girl).
Anyway, Zach and I had a wonderful wedding. We wanted to keep it small and only invited close friends and family. We got married at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio (where my family lives). The wedding took place in the morning, and the day was just perfect. It was 70 degrees (not unusual in these parts) and sunny. I could not have asked for a more perfect day.

The wedding was beautiful, but our honeymoon was that much better. We went to Vista Verde Ranch in Steamboat Springs, CO. I won't bore you with the details of our day to day activities, but we went snowmobiling, snowshoeing, back country skiing, horseback riding, shopping, tubing, and just enjoyed the scenery from our outdoor jacuzzi tub. The whole trip was so memorable- we met interesting people, received excellent service from the Vista Verde staff, and the views were just breathtaking. We will definitely be going back soon (nudge, nudge Zach :)). Anyway, I've included some photos from our trip. I'm sorry this blog is so long- I promise to include less in my future post- I need to be held accountable for frequent blogging.
